iPowerWeb Reviews

I was with IPower for years, mainly because I was too lazy to get a cheaper and better host. When things go well, IPower is a fine service; but then that is true for any web host. When things go wrong, IPower is a complete disaster. While it can take days to get a simple technical problem solved, it can take weeks (or forever) to get an account or billing issue solved. I finally removed all credit card information from my account, because every year they billed it incorrectly; and I never did get all of the miss-bills properly refunded. I switched to paying by check. They failed to send renewal notices. Requests for payments due information could lead to a different amount being quoted in each telephone call, even when made within a couple hours of each other. They failed to apply payments properly. And, every year I experienced one to six weeks of site down time due to the incompetence of their billing department. The complaints about this host are legion. Stay away.

I feel really taken by them and stupid for continuing to pay them. I have been with them for 3 years+ and have had the worst customer service in the entire hosting world. They simply don't care. Bottom line. They are available but it is just a body to cover the phone.

Billing made a mistake AGAIN. I am on automatic pay with my credit card. I review my bank statement, saw I had paid and did not think anything else. Apparently, accounting made a mistake and added a warning sign to the check-out that this site might be a copy and a fraud - thus customers were not purchasing. It was during the holidays and I was traveling so i did not catch it right away. A loyal customer pointed out the problem. I emailed ipower and after 18 hours of back and forth they finally got it. Another waste of 2 working days.

And my final complaint is my website is constantly down at least for 15 minutes monthly. I have had enough. Stay away ... no RUN.

It's just terrible. Here's how my triennial billing:
I get an email that says I'm being automatically charged for $250+ for my service.
That seems expensive, since I have ONE MONTH before my service is up, I call and talk to a customer rep. Says for 3 years, that's the deal. I do some research, and find they have a 90$ deal for two years, so I call up and ask for this package--I sign up.

I check my credit card statement, and I'm charged for both, 250 AND 90.00. I call, they promise a refund. I check again, and I'm charged for 250+90+ANOTHER 90?! No, I'm not making this up.

After 2 days of talking to different people who are no help (it just seems like they don't have an organized system--their phones can't even transfer calls?!)

So, here I am. Visa rec'ed that I cancel my card (its billed to my debit, so I'm 10 business days without access to atms) and I FINALLY decided to change servers.

There's better service out there. Trust me, I work in design and have worked some good ones.

I used this service and had to cancel several years ago. IF they have improved great but I would be very careful relying on this company. I was provided poor service, terrible follow-up and had to get my states consumer protection department involved to resolve it all; in the mean time my business website was unreachable.....sound like fun????? Not to me.

IPowerWeb very friendly sales people.
Customer-oriented business.
Friendly service - however the support tickets get handled somewhere out of the country. We are not in Kansas anymore, but that is fine with me as long as they know what they are doing.
So all my thumbs up for IPowerWeb

iPowerWeb was a relative disappointment for me. Although the prices were competitive, the service was not as good as I would've hoped. The control panel was highly disorganized, and the domain credit system was fairly confusing. PhpMyAdmin operated at an unworkably slow pace; it would take 2 minutes to just run a SELECT query in a table with 3 rows. The initial setup was really annoying, I had to go out of my way just to enable PHP and MySQL. The most annoying part about iPower was its irritating persistence to try to get me to renew my hosting; they spammed my cell phone, calling me when I was in class or about to go to bed.

There are better hosts out there, don't be fooled by this rating.

I've just started hosting with iPowerWeb and although I have nothing to compare it to it seems pretty good so far. I got my hosting and domain on sale for $4.95 a month. My only complaint so far is that the version of Wordpress it installed was out of date.
